Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. With a smartphone app they can lock and unlock the car and start the engine and even locate it.
Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Locate the button that releases it, insert an object between the fob and the cover, and pull up carefully.
Locking the Doors
Volvo's remote keyfobs let you unlock your car's doors, tailgate and flap for filling up with fuel at the push of one button. They also can switch on the ignition, set the alarm, and operate the sunroof if it's fitted. You'll never need to search for your keys, or be locked out of your vehicle.
You may not be aware of certain key fob functions that are hidden. One of these is an unlocked and lock button that can be pressed in the event the battery in your key fob dies.
The key fob should be held with the Volvo logo facing up to unlock or lock the manual lock. Find the black button close to the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. The cover can be turned counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.
Beginning the Engine

If you notice that your key fob isn't as responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace the battery.

Closing the Windows

Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and the sunroof in case your car comes with one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.
You can also use your key fob to trigger your car's panic alarm. It will sound an intense, attention-grabbing roar that could frighten away thieves and help you get home safe after a long night out. Opening the Tailgate
Volvo's key fob is packed with a variety of useful features. These are great when you're overwhelmed with groceries or helping kids pack their sports gear after a workout.
If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it with the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it with the same button.
